B.A.R.A.N.K.S.Y
Born in Turkey in 1983, the artist made his first landscape drawing at the age of four, reminiscent of the style of Bob Ross. However, rather than simply painting on paper, He drew on the bonnet of a brand-new BMW parked on the street with a stone. Curious about how a different material might interact with a new surface, he was already beginning to instinctively question boundaries, restrictions and prohibitions at that age.
A few years later, he developed a much clearer understanding of what he wanted to pursue. As a young artist, he completed the Plastic Arts Department at a private university in Istanbul on a full scholarship. Since 2003, he has continued to work across a range of disciplines, including painting, photography and cinematography, continually exploring different techniques and quieter ways of expressing himself.
Over the years, he has carried out silent performances in public spaces across cities including Paris, Bangkok, Hamburg and Amsterdam, as well as at Dubai International Airport and he has also held solo and joined to group exhibitions in Paris and Istanbul and his works have been presented at several national and international art fairs.
Only a small number of people attended his solo exhibitions. Nevertheless, those all early exhibitions became an important part of a much longer artistic journey that continues to develop today.
