Banksy – Marks & Stencils Bag

BANKSY: “Marks & Stencils”
This hand-printed logo on a shopping bag comes from Banksy’s “Marks & Stencils” exhibition, held in 2010. The temporary gallery, located on Berwick Street in Soho, took the form of a quirky home furnishings shop, selling affordable artworks alongside “home-made novelty goods.”
Banksy explained the concept with his characteristic wit:
“People enjoy shopping more than they enjoy art, so it makes sense to try to disguise your gallery as a home furnishings store.”
The exhibition blurred the lines between art, commerce, and everyday life — turning a simple shopping bag into a piece of street art history.
